Tell me more about Women's Aid?

This year we thought we would do things differently - so we have invited Kat Mann, a Senior Support Worker, to tell us more about her work and how our donations help make a difference to the women that Women's Aid help.

Women's Aid statement

"Women’s Aid is the national charity working to end domestic abuse against women and children. We are a federation of just under 170 organisations which provide 300 local lifesaving services to women and children across the country. Our support services, which include our Live Chat Helpline and the Survivors’ Forum, help thousands of women and children every year.

We have all faced many challenges over the past few years. However, for survivors of domestic abuse their fear and anxiety has remained a constant. It was exacerbated by the pandemic and has been compounded by the cost of living crisis.

Almost three quarters of women living with, and having financial links with, the abuser said that the cost-of-living crisis had either prevented them from leaving or made it harder for them to leave. It is no surprise that perpetrators are capitalising on the crisis as a tool of abuse, using it to further restrict and control survivors access to money. With the holidays approaching, the fear, anxiety and abuse that survivors experience will be heightened and our services will be in greater demand.

Women’s Aid are here to support survivors at any and every stage of their relationship, for as long as they need us. Thanks to Yawn and their Giving Friday campaign, we will be able to raise lifesaving funds to support survivors and take a stand against domestic abuse this winter."

Thank you to all of you lovely customers for your support.

Love Yawn x
