Dreamer | Meet Katy Smith

Katy Smith is a 26 year old designer working and living in London. She grew up in Sutton Coldfield and went to university in Nottingham where she achieved a degree in Graphic Design, before working at leading design agency BuroCreative. She works with a selection of food brands and loves all things food and eating out as well as travelling adventures.

We had a chat with Katy who shared her top relaxing tips with us all.  She started something off - since then we have been listening to the beautiful Lapsley..

Which Yawn product is your personal fave and why?

'Take it slow' PJ set! They're so cosy and comfy. They're the perfect PJ to curl up into after a busy day at work. The quirky little snail pattern always brings a smile to my face.

How do you switch off from a busy day?

I tend to cycle or take a longer walk home from work which helps me switch off. When I get home I catch up with family and friends, read and eat chocolate, oops.

What music would you recommend for a relaxing night in?

Listening to music is a great way to relax, I have a million playlists saved, but at the moment I'm listening to Lapsley, her music is warming and emotive. James Vincent McMorrow, no newbie but he will always be on my relaxing playlist, his beautiful and comforting music I can listen to all night.

Where in the world do you feel your most relaxed?

When I was younger I spent a lot of my childhood at my grandparents villa by the sea. I have many many happy memories there. Anywhere near the water brings back that warm fuzzy feeling, I love how peaceful and beautiful it is, wherever it is.

What book would you recommend?

I have read all of Victoria Hislop's books, I got into her books when on holiday
in Crete one year. Her books are beautiful, atmospheric tales. They're absorbing and allow you to escape into a different world and time.

What is your top tip for a good nights sleep?

Ah there are so many things that lead to a good nights sleep. Definitely TV off, phone off and fresh sheets on. A nice new bunch of flowers help too, they bring a smile and freshen up a bedroom instantly.
