Busy, bustling, beautiful Milan. We were lucky enough to visit recently and wanted to share our highlights in case you find yourself there. If you enjoy culture, food, and art, this is a special place.
We went old school and grabbed a Lonely Planet, hopped on the excellent public transport, and spent three days discovering these seven gems:
Duomo. This celebrated cathedral is awesome in its size and grandeur and a truly uplifting place to spend some time, whatever your religion. It's very central, easy to reach but you need to book in advance if you want to go inside.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. A shopping destination like no other, and well worth a wander through, simply to admire the window displays. The roof is a thing to behold.

Fondzione Prada. Oh, Miuccia! What a woman. Having known very little, we discovered the singular vision that transformed her grandfather's leather business from the 70s on. Her extraordinary temple to contemporary art was fashioned out of an old distillery building. Designed by Rem Koolhaas, it feels exciting and modern.

Bar Luce cafe. Legs were sore and it was time to stop for lunch. So we had a toastie in this extraordinary cafe, created by famous film director Wes Anderson. It featured his cinematic magic and well-dressed waiters who only added to the feeling of being on a film set.
Armani/Silos. Speaking of fashion legends, Giorgio Armani died last year, leaving an extraordinary legacy. Milan's growth and success is centred on the fashion industry and his museum showcases extraordinary dresses from multiple eras. Simply breathtaking.

Carsten Hollers mushrooms. This was our stand out art experience at the Prada Foundation. Apparently Hollers was originally a scientist and likes creating unexpected situations for the brain to deal with.

Navigli district. On our final night we decided to treat ourselves to a special meal. We headed into the canals of the Navigli District where we were lucky to get a table at this bustling restaurant - Bugande. Delicious local food and wine.

What I packed for the trip: my favourite Yawn nightshirt.
This is obviously just our highlights - if you have any recommendations for Yawn readers - please do share x
