“I have loads of energy. I’m the type of person to cram in as much as possible. I’ve been a freelancer for the past five years so I’m used to segmenting my time and making space for quiet nights in. All I need is a cup of tea, something comfy to wear, a cuddle with my dog on the sofa and some good tele.”
Alongside marketing you run a festival right?
“That’s right. I worked in the music industry before I stepped across to food and drink and I still organise Blissfields Festival. I got involved after attending in 2006 when it only had a small capacity, since then we’ve increased the size and moved it to a bigger site at our friend’s farm. It’s a beautiful festival attended by all kinds of people of all ages. We have a theme each year and this year’s was ‘Somewhere In Time’, it played around with time travel, the decoration on site and interactive elements reflected this.”
I can imagine it’s pretty hard work?
“I’m part of a small core organisational team. My responsibility is curating the five stages, managing the booking teams, the accreditation and advancing processes as well as partnership deals. Then on site I oversee the running and production of the stages, ensure all the artists and performers are where they should be at the right time and deal with backstage hospitality.”
As a music fan who would you recommend for us to listen to?
“I really could go on and on here so I’ll try and keep it concise! For winding down, I currently adore the debut album from Bear’s Den and the new album from The Maccabees. I’m really excited about Jack Garratt and Laura Marling will never fail to soothe my soul.”

Do you have any tips on getting the work/life balance right?
“I try to be realistic about how much I can fit into each week so I make sure that I have at least a couple of quiet nights in at home. I also really enjoy reformer Pilates, running and squash. They help me wind down and relax after a hectic week at work.”
And when it comes to bedtime describe your PJ style?
“My PJ style is oversized and comfortable. I think the Yawn pyjama sets are beautiful but I'm more of a pyjama bottom/shot and t-shirt kind of lounger so I love the shorts and slouchy t-shirts.”
Now we’ve covered PJs and music, let’s talk about tea…
You’re passionate about organic, why?
“Food grown in organic soil tends to be tastier more nutritious. All of our teas and herbal infusions are certified organic by the UK Soil Association, we don’t insist on it to be trendy, but because organic soil holds more carbon and is less dependant on oil based fertilisers and pesticides, it’s more resilient to changes in climate. Organic farming provides a haven for wildlife, including bees, butterflies and birds, and provides homes for up to 50% more wildlife than non-organic farms. This September we are supporting the Soil Association’s Organic September. Head here to see how you can get involved: http://www.soilassociation.org/organicseptember "
Can you recommend a good cuppa?
“I have a cup of Joe’s Tea Co. Queen of Green with my breakfast each morning, the antioxidants and low caffeine definitely help to kick-start my day. Mid morning calls for The Earl of Grey, and Proper Peppermint always sorts out an upset stomach.”
What’s next for Joe’s Tea Co?
“We’ve worked on some great collaborations this year, a tea infused beer with microbrewery pioneers By the Horns was really fun to produce. Ultimately we want to introduce fine, organic teas and herbal infusions to as many people as possible. We’ve got some exciting things up our sleeves for next year that we are working on at the moment.”
